6th Annual AUA Residents Bowl

Make no mistake – this event is a must-attend at AUA2017. Designed to foster a spirit of competition and Section pride, the AUA Residents Bowl matches residents in an ultimate battle of the brains. This event will test residents' knowledge in different urological subspecialties, the history of urology and important new research findings. In its sixth year, the Residents Bowl continues to attract attendees to the Science & Technology Hall with its global participants teaming up to compete. More than eight different nations will be represented on eight Section teams that consist of five residents—only one team will be champion!

The Residents Bowl will be held in Science & Technology Hall.

Brian is currently a 4th year resident at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He was born and raised in Oregon and completed his undergraduate studies at Oregon State University with a degree in Biology. In 2013, Brian received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in California. After graduation from residency, he plans to pursue a one year Robotic Urologic Oncology Fellowship. Brian's research interests include outcomes research in the treatment of urologic malignancy. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, sports, hiking, and kayaking.

She received a post-baccalaureate degree in Physiology at VCU, and received her MD from VCU in 2013. She is currently a PGY-4 Urology resident at VCU in Richmond.

His research interests include understanding the immune response to renal cell carcinoma. When not in the hospital, he enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife and three children.

Dr. Waseda is an attending staff of Department of Urology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University.

Shu was born in China but grew up in the state of California, where he fondly calls home. Hoping to expand his horizons, he relocated to NYC to study Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. One thing led to another, and he continued his stint in NY where earned his medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He seemingly could not get enough of the Northeast and moved across the Long Island sound to continue his medical education at Yale. He hopes pursue fellowship training after residency for the betterment of Men's Health. During his weekends not on call, Shu enjoys venturing to China Town for dim sum and procurement of roasted pork buns.

Currently, Dr. Jaipuria is pursuing DNB Urology training at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, where more than 60,000 patients are treated annually, and all services are free of charge. Dr. Jaipuria has co-authored 10 publications in scientific journals, which include 41 citations. His 'h' index is 4 and 'i10' index is 1.

He enjoys Tuesday morning conferences, logging cases and duty hours, late night calls from his attending's patients and long robotic cases with no visible end in sight. His grasp on discretion is nearly as tenuous as his grasp on his current residency position. After residency, Erik will pursue a career in baked goods.
