The debate will consist of eight 15-minute debates.

Mid-Atlantic

Andrew F. Colhoun, MD

Andrew F. Colhoun, MD
Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia
Graduation Date: June 2017

Andrew studies nuclear engineering at North Carolina State University and attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. After residency he plans to work in private practice at Virginia Urology in Richmond, VA and conduct part-time research in voiding dysfunction at Virginia Commonwealth University.


Robert Strehlow, VI, MD

Rob is currently one of two chief residents at EVMS in Norfolk, VA. His primary interests are in General Urology and Reconstruction. After finishing residency in June 2017 he plans to join the Urology Center of Spartanburg in South Carolina. He met his wife Kristen in college at Wake Forest University and they have a one-year-old daughter named Lucy. Outside of Urology, his interests include time with his family, being outdoors, and traveling.

New England

I am currently a fourth year resident at Brown University. I grew up in Maine, completed my undergraduate degree at Williams College and my medical degree at Northwestern University. In my free time I enjoy exploring the wilds of Rhode Island with my dog and husband, and upsetting the entire hospital staff with my Steelers OR swag.


Kevin Koo, MD, MPH, MPhil

Kevin Koo is a senior resident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Kevin's research focuses on the impact of patient education and risk communication on clinical decision-making. A health policy advocate, he previously served as a fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and a consultant to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is vice chair-elect of the AUA Residents and Fellows Committee. Kevin is a graduate of Harvard College and the Yale School of Medicine. He holds master's degrees from the Harvard School of Public Health and the University of Cambridge.

New York Section

Haris Ahmed, MD

Born in Queens, NY, Haris grew up in northern NJ, where he earned a degree in economics from Rutgers University. He attended medical school at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers), before beginning his internship and residency at the Hofstra Northwell Health System. After completing his urology training, he will commence fellowship training at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center in the field of pediatric urology.

Ari Keehn is a 6th year urology resident at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Born and raised in Newton MA, he graduated from Yeshiva University with a BA in American History and completed his Medical school training at Stony Brook University. After residency he will be starting a one-year robotics fellowship at Temple in Philadelphia. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey, and traveling.

North Central

I am originally from Akron, Ohio. I attended the University of Dayton and achieved a B.S. in Biology. I then went to the University of Toledo College of Medicine and have been at Indiana University for the last five years completing my residency. I will be staying at the Indiana University for the next two years for Urologic Oncology fellowship where I hope to attend graduate school to obtain an M.P.H.

Derek is a PGY-4 resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate studies and earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree at Drake University in 2009. He went on to attend the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, earning his MD in 2013. His clinical interests include endourology and minimally invasive procedures. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time at the lake with his family.

Jathin Bandari, MD

Jathin was born in Hyderabad, India. He grew up in New York City and western Massachusetts. Jathin attended the University of Rochester with a B.S. in Neuroscience and then Johns Hopkins University for medical school. Jathin is currently a resident at the University of Pittsburgh for Urology. In his spare time, Jathin plays the ukulele.

Simon is a PGY-4 urology resident at McGill University in Quebec. He attended medical school at the Université de Sherbrooke. Following graduation he plans to complete a fellowship in urologic oncology.

South Central

Travis W. Dum, MD

Travis is a chief resident at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born in Boynton Beach, Florida and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After studying kinesiology at Indiana University, he went on to earn his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Dr. Furr grew up primarily in Tulsa, Oklahoma; though he spent some of his youth moving around Southeast Asia with his father's work in the oil industry. He ventured to Trinity University in San Antonio for college where he also played NCAA tennis. For medical school he returned to the University of Oklahoma and was fortunate enough to also match there for his urology residency. Following graduation, he hopes to continue his training in Male Genitourinary Reconstruction.

Maurilio Garcia-Gil is currently a U2 in the Urology Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, FL. After his undergraduate training, he received his Master of Public Health from the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health. He then completed his medical school training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His current interests include voiding dysfunction and endourology.

I was born in Liestal, Switzerland and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. I attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, where I received a BS in Biology. I also attended Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI, where I received a MS in Accounting and worked as a CPA for 5 years in Michigan and Ohio. I then completed my MD at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2013 and remained at Loma Linda for the past four years as a Urology resident. I am currently on my research year.

Dan was born in Boise Idaho and attended the University of Portland for undergrad where he studied life science. He then attended Saint Louis University for medical school. He is completing his residency at OHSU in Portland this year. After residency he will start work as a general urologist in Washington State. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, running and traveling.
