With AUA2017 scheduled over Mother's Day, AUA President, Dr. Richard Babayan, and AUA Secretary, Dr. Manoj Monga, respond to member concerns.
Dear AUA2017 Attendees,
It won't be long before the AUA kicks off its 112th Annual Meeting in Boston, where we will welcome more than 16,000 women and men from 100+ countries around the globe for the largest, most anticipated international urology meeting in the world—AUA2017!
It is also the same time of year many around the world will be celebrating Mother's Day. As we mentioned last spring, this will be the last time our Annual Meeting will fall on this cherished holiday. We understand spending Mother's Day away from home, and those we love, is a difficult decision – please accept our heartfelt apologies for this conflict.
Due to the size and breadth of our meeting, dates and sites are often limited, which is why they are selected up to 10 years in advance. It is for this reason the Mother's Day holiday went unnoticed during the initial planning phase for our 2017 event. Please know that while we were unable to shift the dates for this year's meeting, the AUA Board of Directors met in the fall of 2016 and took steps to ensure this conflict would not occur again in the future, even rescheduling our AUA2023 meeting, which was originally scheduled to fall on Mother's Day weekend.
We recognize the remarkable contributions you provide every day as leaders, caregivers and role models, and appreciate the sacrifices you make for the well-being of your families and loved ones. We thank you for your commitment to urology and we look forward to seeing you in the spectacular city of Boston!
